The Florida Botanical Gardens are a gorgeous marriage of nature and manmade art with countless displays floral splendor. Florida Botanical Gardens
The Botanical Gardens are an extensive series of grounds which feature a wide array of displays to take in. These areas include the Patio Garden, Herb Garden, Tropical Fruits Garden, Native Plants Garden, Cactus/Succulent Garden, Butterfly Garden, Palm Garden, Vegetable Garden and Vinery Display, Wedding Garden, Tropical Walk, and Tropical Garden. Visitors will be able to enjoy a wide variety of floral, vegetable, fruit, and other plant life in these distinctive garden sections. Manmade art is also on display here, with mosaics, water features, musical instruments, murals, and sculpture all present to improve the already moving presentation.
Heritage Village
This 21 acre history museum lies in the center of Pinellas County and includes 33 buildings and places of interest for those who get a hankerin’ to step back in time. A general store, historic homes, a railroad depot, two schools, and a church form the main part of the property. Special demonstrations are given throughout the year in locations like a cure house, to demonstrate old fashioned meat smoking techniques and a sugar cane mill and boiling shed to show visitors how sugar cane was processed. Annual events like Holidays at the village and Country Jubilee and Flea market give plenty of reason to plan another visit.
Sports in Pinellas County School Systems
Pinellas participates in a “Centralized Athletic Program” providing opportunities for students to participate in an interscholastic athletic program. Middle school students are offered the opportunity to play volleyball, basketball, and track. Similarly, high school students have the sports of Football, basketball, soccer, cross country, volleyball, track, tennis, lacrosse, swimming, golf, wrestling, baseball, softball, flag football, open to them. Wall Springs Park
Once set aside as a spa and bathing area, this 210 acre park now features more out and about types of recreation. Take the boardwalk around to the nature trail, which connects to the Pinellas Trail, where you can take in a vista overlooking the the gulf of Mexico. Catch some downtime at the picnic tables and grilling areas, while children take part in the playground area. Saltwater fishing is also welcome, so come spend the day with the family or take some time for yourself.
