Lee County Parks and Recreation

Lee County boasts a number of diverse locations for park goers to enjoy the great outdoors. Visit a number of Preserves, watch or play a game of baseball, and later cool off at a Swimming Pool.

Preserves
Lee County manages 47 preserves, totaling nearly 30,000 acres. All preserves are open for hiking, nature photography and study, and wildlife observation. Others offer fishing, kayaking, canoeing, and horseback riding. Of these numerous locations, the Caloosahatchee preserve is located on the north bank of the Caloosahatchee river. It is a 1.5 mile boardwalk that travels through diverse areas like wetlands, hammock, and pine flatwood systems. An additional 3 miles of traditional hiking trails are also featured. The San Carlos Bay – Bunche Beach Preserve boasts a natural beach, tidal swamp, mudflats, and sea grass beds. Of its 718 acres, 15 acres are preserved as a public beach for great days on the sand and shore.
Baseball Complexes and Stadiums
Lee County has world class baseball facilities both for watching and playing. The Century Link Sports Complex & Hammond Stadium boasts two minor league team affiliates of the Minnesota Twins, in addition to five playing fields and the Twins Player Development Academy. JetBlue Park holds strong ties with the Boston Redsox, providing a spring training ground for the team. The stadium itself was strongly inspired by Fenway park, even featuring a Green Monster. Terry Park Sports Complex features baseball played year round on its 4 lighted fields. The City of Palms Park is host to one stadium baseball field as well as one softball field.
Swimming Pools
The Lehigh Acres Community Pool is 169,800 gallons of heated, aquatic bliss. Its 8 lanes are open year round for enjoyment, in addition to its triple flume slide. Water Exercise and Arthritic classes are also offered here during weekday pool hours. The North Fort Myers Community Pool offers plentiful shade for its visitors. It is 227,500 gallons and offers a pool lift for swimmers who require assistance. Swimming classes are also available on a regular basis. The Pine Island Community Pool is the only saltwater, public pool in Lee County. The pool water is also heated and the pool itself also features a double flume slide and is heated during the winter months. Six swimming lanes and a diving board are also some of its other key features.
