Charlotte County Parks and Recreation
Charlotte County seeks to provide safe and well maintained, fully accessible parks, athletic fields, beaches, playgrounds, boat ramps, and fishing piers.
Charlotte Sports Park
This 82 acre, world class park serves as the spring training facility of the Tampa Bay Rays as well as the year round home of the Charlotte Stone Crabs. The Rays play at the 7,500 capacity stadium which also offers a fan-friendly pedestrian concourse and children’s play area. Recreational activities like 5k runs are also hosted here. The sports park is also connected to the Tippecanoe Environmental Park, which is a great location to find walking trails, a canoe and kayak launch, a boardwalk, and birding spots.
Aquatic Facilities
South County Regional Park is home to a competition ready, heated swimming pool which is 8-lanes and 25 yards wide. A shallow water area is also featured here, as well as splash pad for children. The pool also has a dive well with a one meter diving board. A wheelchair ramp is also included on site.
Port Charlotte Beach park provides scenic swimming opportunities near Charlotte Harbor. This is a recreational swimming pool host to a shallow and deep water area as well as pool lift, all facing the ocean view.
Tringali Park Recreational Facility
The Tringali Park Recreation is home to a gymnasium with a newly renovated wood floor six basketball hoops. Pickleball and Volleyball are also played here, and the gymnasium also has an enormous, unique rock climbing wall. Open gym times feature a variety of pick up games and lighted tennis courts outside the facility as well as inline hockey and basketball. Numerous special events and programs are offered here year round.
The 2,580 square foot recreation center features a stage, kitchen, and small meeting room. Special events like Trick or Treat Down Spooky Street, Winter Wonderland, Open House, and Back to School Bash are hosted here.
Dog Parks
Charlotte County offers one acre of fenced-in land given specifically for canine recreation. Water stations for your dog are offered, in addition to bags and disposal cans. Smaller areas for small dogs are also available. Locations include the Edgewater Paw Park and Ann & Chuck Dever Regional Paw Park. Leashed dogs are also welcome at 9 other “human parks” for what are sure to be great days spent with one of the most energetic members of your family: your pup!
