Wakulla County Parks and Recreation

Try a little bit of everything at Wakulla County. A horse is welcome of course, and so is your bike, your running shoes, and your diving mask. Any way you get here, you will enjoy your time at this great ode to the attractions available in Northwest Florida.

Sport and Other Activities
In winter, check out the youth soccer league, which plays games around twice a week. Youth Tennis is also hosted here, as are both adult co-ed softball leagues and girls softball. Youth basketball from 6-13 is hosted here as well. Variations of baseball like T-ball, Pitching Machine and Player Pitching, Cal Ripken Divisions, and Babe Ruth leagues are all available for children to enjoy.
Edward Ball Wakula Spring State Park
This park plays host to one of the world’s largest and deepest freshwater springs in the world. A labyrinth of caverns lies beneath the park surface, where park goers also enjoy the host of Florida wildlife that makes their home here, including manatees and alligators. This 6,000 acre park has its own riverboat road to view the natural sights that lie along the water. The Wakulla Springs Lodge offers amenities like a soda fountain and full service dining room to sate the hunger you built up at the park. Come out to see this natural national landmark.
Ochlockonee Bay Bike Trail
This trail, also known as OBBT, offers 13 miles of pedestrian/biking trails. The trails travel along Surf Road to the city of Sopchoppy. The St Marks National Wildlife Refuge also lies along the path. Along the trail, visitors will see wild marshes and tidal creeks aplenty, along with natural wildlife and vegetation. You also can’t miss the Sopchoppy train depot,and beautiful Florida sunshine that will rain down on you as you make your way along this blooming trail.
Wakulla County Equestrian Center
Horses and riders are welcome to enjoy these 163 acres, which feature plenty of forest roads to keep both happy. Arena facilities are also hosted here, along with horse trailer parking. The equestrian center itself is 15 acres. Visitors will find fun extras here at the site like a playground, horseshoe pit, hiking trail, and picnic facilities. Come get your hooves dirty at this great spot.
