Columbia County has a host of activities to enjoy in its confines. Sports, community activities, and even a trip to a waterfall are all found in this great piece of Central Florida.
The Southside Recreation Complex
This expansion center plays host to a huge number of sporting events and activities. 10 two hundred foot baseball fields, 3 three hundred foot baseball fields, 8 two hundred foot girls softball fields, 4 three hundred foot adult softball fields, and 5 soccer fields all available for play, many of which are also lighted. These fields are arranged in groups of four around concessions and restroom facilities. 15 screened batting cages are also available for use. A 12 passenger tram is also available for use by players and spectators to get to around this expansive location.
Falling Creek Falls
This site is home to a rare site in the Sunshine State, a waterfall. Come enjoy this uncommon occurrence and enjoy the relaxing sounds of running water of a small cataract. Falling Creek also has its own slew of walking trails, grassed park areas, boardwalks, a playground, and 3 picnic pavilions. The property was purchased from the Parker & Hogan Families in order to preserve the falls for future generations.
Richardson Community Center
This multipurpose building features a large number of activities within its confines. The indoor, air conditioned gymnasium has its own locker rooms and restrooms. There is also a conference room, concessions room, all-purpose meeting room, cafeteria, and a kitchen with oven, stove, fridge, microwave, and three compartment sink. The Center also has its own regulation softball field, as well as eight outdoor basketball courts and one tennis court. There is also one playground on site in addition to three covered picnic tables.
