With more than 10,000 plants on a unique 18-acre lush jungle landscape, McKee features one of Florida’s most extraordinary botanical collections. Located on the Indian River Lagoon, McKee Botanical Garden offers a picturesque natural setting with pathways that wind through a variety of landscapes, including shady groves, open lawns, and scenic water features.

McKee Botanical Garden has a rich history dating back to the 1930s. Originally known as McKee Jungle Gardens, it was a popular roadside attraction and one of Florida’s first tourist attractions. The garden was established by Waldo E. Sexton and Arthur G. McKee, who transformed the property into a tropical paradise showcasing exotic plants and wildlife. Listed on the National Register of Historic places, and recognized by the Garden Conservancy as a preservation project of national significance, McKee Botanical Garden is, as its founders envisioned, a wild place of natural beauty.

The gardens span over 18 acres (7.3 hectares) and feature a range of distinct landscapes:

• The Waterlily Garden: Known for its beautiful display of water lilies and lotus plants, including vibrant blooms in various colors.
