Disney’s Animal Kingdom® was the fourth theme park at the Walt Disney World Resort in Bay Lake near Orlando, Florida. It opened on Earth Day, April 22, 1998 as the largest Disney park featuring animals and wildlife. The park icon and symbol is The Tree of Life, located in the center of the park on Discovery Island. The park is themed to the environment and animal conservation with unique animal and wildlife themed lands.

Oasis

The entrance of the park, Oasis, is a lush and tranquil area featuring gardens, waterfalls, and animal exhibits.

Discovery Island

Located at the center of the park, Discovery Island is a hub with various dining, shopping, and entertainment options.

Pandora – The World of Avatar

This immersive land is inspired by the movie “Avatar.” It features stunning landscapes, bioluminescent plants, and attractions like “Avatar Flight of Passage,” an exhilarating 3D flying experience, and “Na’vi River Journey,” a boat ride through a bioluminescent forest.

Africa

Africa is a themed area that showcases the continent’s culture, wildlife, and landscapes. It includes attractions like the Kilimanjaro Safaris, where guests can embark on a realistic African safari, and the Festival of the Lion King, a Broadway-style musical show.

Asia

Asia features a blend of Asian cultures and lush landscapes. The area offers attractions such as Expedition Everest, a thrilling roller coaster, and Kali River Rapids, a water rafting adventure. Guests can also explore the ancient ruins of Anandapur and enjoy the live entertainment of “UP! A Great Bird Adventure.”

DinoLand U.S.A.

DinoLand U.S.A. is a playful area that takes guests back to the time of dinosaurs. It includes attractions like DINOSAUR, a thrilling dark ride, and the TriceraTop Spin, a dinosaur-themed spinner ride. The area also hosts interactive games, carnival-style rides, and the “Finding Nemo – The Musical” show.

Kilimanjaro Safaris

One of the park’s signature experiences, Kilimanjaro Safaris, takes guests on an open-air vehicle expedition through an African savannah habitat. Guests can encounter a variety of African animals, including elephants, giraffes, lions, zebras, and more.

Shows and Entertainment

Disney’s Animal Kingdom offers live entertainment and shows throughout the park. These include “Festival of the Lion King,” a high-energy, Broadway-style show featuring characters from “The Lion King,” and “Finding Nemo – The Musical,” a theatrical adaptation of the beloved Pixar film.

Conservation and Education

The park has a strong focus on animal conservation and education. It provides opportunities for guests to learn about wildlife and conservation efforts through interactive exhibits, educational presentations, and animal encounters.

The Wilderness Explorers program allows guests to become honorary Wilderness Explorers by completing various challenges and activities throughout the park. This interactive experience encourages guests to learn about wildlife, conservation, and cultural experiences.
