Holmes Creek in Vernon
Holmes Creek travels through a diverse range of habitats and is an important part of Florida’s Greenways and Trails. Paddlers will note the upper and lower parts of the creek feature high sandy banks. The greater part of the waterway consists of low-lying swamplands. Animal life in the creek includes blue, green, and white heron, warblers, woodpeckers, ibis, and turtles. For more information, click here.
Falling Waters State Park
Falling Waters is home to Florida’s highest waterfall, called the Falling Waters Sink. The Sink is 100 feet deep and 20 feet wide. Despite the crashing waves of the fall, the park itself is actually very relaxing, even welcoming visitors to its very own butterfly garden. For more information, click here.
