Flagler County Parks and Recreation
Flagler County is rife in history, fishing locations, sporting activities, and beautiful beaches. Take some time off and explore idyllic locales of this great Florida County.
Jungle Hut Park
This two-acre park features access to its beautiful beach-side views. The park’s beach access, paved parking, and outdoor shower facilities make this a comfortable location for all beach goers to enjoy. The sounds of the ocean waves hitting the beach rocks make Jungle Hut Park an extremely relaxing location to enjoy the amenities of the sea. Take a walk on the dune to see ruby-throated hummingbirds in the summertime and gannets during the winter months. Enjoy a picnic at one of Flagler County’s most laid-back destinations.
Wadsworth Park
This 45 acre park keeps things busy during the day and into the night. That’s because of its lighted soccer fields and unique way to fit in just one more game. Sports like racquetball, tennis, volleyball, and basketball are also hosted here as well. Try one of its unique draws, their skatepark, as well as their 60,000 square foot, fenced dog park. There is also a canoe/kayak launch on site.
Princess Place Reserve
The preserve is 1,500 acres of beautiful land that attracts visitors both for its natural beauty and historical significance. Numerous hiking trails put Princess Place’s natural splendor fully on display. The salt marshes of Matanzas River and Pellicer Creek are great spots for fishing. Camping and horseback riding are also popular activities. Horse enthusiasts will enjoy the reserve’s equestrian camp site, as well as its numerous trails. The site’s original lodge, which was built by Henry Cutting, is Flagler County’s oldest intact structure, and also features Florida’s first in-ground swimming pool.
Bing’s Landing
Bing’s Landing lies right along the intracoastal water, which is the body of water where all of its visitors will launch their boats. Kayaking and canoeing are also a big draw here. The park itself is 8 acres of maritime oak hammock. The boat launch featured here is state-of-the-art. It has an equally great fishing pier, picnic and playground facilities, and is even an important site of an archaeological dig called the Mala Compra Plantation. This Plantation was originally the home of Brigadier General Joseph Fernandez, who was Florida’s first member of the US congress and Florida’s first Hispanic congressman.
Flagler County is rife with locations that are rich in history and natural beauty. Lay back for a while, take your fishing rod out to a pier, and quietly take in green and the blue colors that mark Flagler’s connection between the land and the sea. Or run full bore up the wing at one of your nightly soccer games, its all up to you.
